Needles and Hooks

We are building a wide selection of needles and hooks in materials to suit every crafter's needs—whether you're looking for complete sets or individual items.

Things to consider when selecting needles

Material

Metal needles are prized for their smooth glide through yarn, offering speed and fluidity. This works beautifully for many, though some find yarn can slip too easily off metal needles.

Wood and bamboo needles provide a gentler resistance, giving you better stitch control and a warmer, more tactile feel in hand. Many crafters prefer this balance of comfort and grip.

Crochet hooks with ergonomic handles reduce hand fatigue on larger projects, offering a more comfortable alternative to traditional stick designs.

Lengths

Interchangeable knitting needles come in a variety of lengths; both of the needles tips and of the cables.

longer tips are great for bigger pieces, paired with long cables they even make it possible to knit blankets in one piece. For smaller pieces use shorter cables, ensuring the stiches fit comfortably and are not stretched or crammed to tightly together to fit on.

When knitting small circumference pieces it is possible to use shorter tips and cables. As a general rule the cable needs to be equal to or longer than the combined length of the two needle tips, if it is too short it will not be possible to knit in the round.

There are some very small mini tips, these can open up knitting things like sleeves and socks in the round. It can be helpful to have a shorter needle tip in the non working hand and a slightly longer on in the working hand if you struggle to work with the very short tips.

Changing needle sizes and cables is straight forward with interchangeable sets. Needle tips can be unscrewed and changed as required, and changing cables is simple if you have a cable connector, this allows you to pull the new cable through you work as needed.

Compatibility

The majority of the interchangeable sets we sell are compatible with each other with Knit pro and lantern moon having the same threads. They are also compatible with Lykke and Drops interchangeable needles.

Socks

Fixed sock needles can be a great help to those who do not like working with double pointed needles (DPNs) or using magic loop.
