Alpaca

Alpaca fibre is considered one of the ‘noble fibres’, softer, warmer, and stronger than most sheep wool, with a silky feel and minimal scales, making it suitable for people with wool allergies. The fibre is measured in microns, typically ranging from 18–30, with the finest fleeces reaching 15–16 microns . Alpaca fibre is naturally hypoallergenic, dust mite resistant, and eco-friendly, making it ideal for sustainable fashion and slow fashion enthusiasts.

It has few guard hairs, a soft crimp, and excellent durability, second only to silk in strength. As it has less crimp than wool it has more drape.

Hand washing in lukewarn water with specialist wool detergent. Hair conditioner may also be used to keep it soft.
